Be My Blue-Eyed Girl

A Cat's Eye Fanfiction Inc. Production
HAPPY BIRTHDAY WOLFIE! :D

Such a lovely girl for such a depressing curb.  She sat on the filthy pavement, ignoring the grit catching on her delicate and elegant black dress.  Her legs cross, one foot in an equally elegant black shoe tapped at the curb.  Her perfectly trimmed and painted nails—all shades of a not-too-bright-pink—lay limply at the end of her fingers, though one of her hands swung back and forth impatiently.  Though it was relatively late, the streetlamp light and the lights from the buildings illuminated her beautiful curly hair, shining on the pink flower in her hair, behind her right ear.  Her blue eyes sparkled both in annoyance and sadness, staring down at the restaurant reservation in her hand.
Leaning back, she looked off into the street, clearly disappointed.  She looked up at the nearby clock tower.  It was 9:30.  He was three and a half hours late.  By now, the reservation probably wouldn't even be available anymore…
She put her chin in her hands, staring uninterested at the deserted street.  "Looks like he's a no-show…Again…" she grumbled.  She looked down the road, seeing a couple of cars coming up…
Only it wasn't cars.  As it approached, she lifted her head, surprised.  It was sparks.  Something was causing sparks to fly as it bolted down the road…
She sat up, interested.  The blur screeched to a halt in front of her, the sparks dying away.  She squinted as the light assaulted her eyes.  Slowly, she let her arm down to gaze at the stranger.
It was a boy, maybe a year older than she was, in a strange red-and-yellow spandex costume.  His gloves and pants were red, while his shirt was yellow, his boots—accented with some sort of wing ornament—the same shade.  A cherry lightning bolt was his emblem.  His face was covered with the same materials, his jaw, nose, and mouth showing, and his eyes.  He had red wing ornaments on his mask, too.  His hair was a gingery-red, almost as bright as the red in his costume, his skin peachy, and his eyes were forest green.  All together, despite the strange spandex outfit, he looked rather dashing.
He looked down at her, eyes searching.  He snapped his fingers, smiled, and in a meaningful tone, murmured to himself, "She's the one."
She gazed at him for a bit longer, feeling her heart race slightly to be in the attractive stranger's presence.  Finally she managed to ask, "Who are you…?"
"Oh, I'm just a nobody, walking alone on these fine streets on a lovely summer evening such as this…" he uttered, gesturing around and turning his head to add more emotion to his words.  She raised an eyebrow.
"Really.  There were sparks when you ran.  In spandex."
He frowned at this, then managed a teasing smirk.  "Alright, you caught me…" he muttered, lifting his hands up.  Extending a hand to her, he exclaimed, "Name's Kid Flash.  I'm what you might like to call a superhero."  She took it, shaking it.  "So, what's a lovely girl such as yourself doing out here all alone on an evening like this, and in such fine clothes…?" he asked, gesturing to his outfit.  She giggled at the compliment for a few moments, then realized why she was here.  She sighed sadly, angrily crossing her arms over her knees.
"My date, Ludwig, never showed up…He never shows up to any of our dates…"  She blew out her lips.  "Some boyfriend he turned out to be…"
The boy's eyes turned sympathetic, which showed as he sat by the girl and put an arm around her shoulder.  Jumping in surprise, she looked up at him.  He smiled in return.  "Doesn't seem like he treats a lady like you with the respect you deserve…"
She smiled weakly.  "No, not really…"  Looking down at the sewer, she muttered, "I think I'll dump him…"
The stranger smiled.  "Wally."
"Hmm?" she asked, looking up at him, confused.
"Wally West's my real name."
The girl snorted at this.  "Aren't superheroes supposed to keep their identities a secret?"
"For most people…You know, family, close friends…girlfriends…" he added, casting her a look that caused her to giggle further.  He stood up and offered her a hand.  "So, what's your name?"
She hesitated before telling him, "Kuna…"
"So, Kuna, why don't you dump that zero…"  He pulled her up quickly, causing her to let out a cry.  He pulled her close, his face dangerously near hers, one hand on her back, and his other twining fingers with her other.  A romantic look had crossed his face.
"And get with a hero?" he murmured.  Kuna was stunned for a moment, then burst out into a fit of giggles, lifting one of her legs up.
"Why me, though?" she asked, batting her eyes.
"Because I promised myself I'd get me a lovely blue-eyed girl…And I even wrote a song for her…"  Before she could even tell what was going on, three other blurs came from the sky; a dark-skinned boy, another ginger, and a black-haired boy, causing the spandex level of the area to increase to an alarming level.  But her eyes remained on the lightning boy, as he gazed at her with deeply enchanting eyes.
Then, he began to sing in a beautiful, melodic voice that was nothing that she had ever heard before.
"Come on, babe; now don't be so shy…"  The other three help sing back up, though clearly, that's all they were there for.  The tune was a snappy, jazzy tune, with a hint of blues.  He walked up to her and took her hands, dancing with her playfully.  She laughed.
"You know that I really wanna be your guy."  Being spun around in a circle by the enchanting boy, she felt like a princess in a castle.  Never had she been serenaded before.
"Just you and me, I'd give you the world."  He let her go, just snapping and singing at her.  It didn't stop her heart racing, however, to have him step away.  Rather, it made it beat faster, as she craved more of the contact.
"But, please, baby, be my blue-eyed girl!" he sang, one hand on his chest, the other extending to her.  She smiled, bringing her fists to her face to cover her mouth, blushing.  This was too much…!
"We could travel the universe, your hand in mine…"  As he sung this, he took her by the hand, winking at her.  The giggle fit couldn't stop.
"Every February, be my Valentine."  Out of seemingly nowhere, he pulled out an elegant, yellow and red rose, and presented it to her.  Blushing coyly, she took it from his hands, carefully putting it into her own two.  Inhaling the divine scent deeply, she almost felt herself going into a trance.
Suddenly, he was beside her, singing as if to break the trance, "I'll be your clam if you be my pearl…"  He went down on one knee, holding out an old, ruddy clam, probably just picked up from the bottom of the ocean.  But before she could scoff at it, he pried it open, revealing a lovely set of pearl earrings.  She gasped, almost dropping her rose, almost giving in to the urge to fall into his arms…
But she turned her head and giggled.  She couldn't be falling for someone else.  Not so soon.
He stood up, placing the pearls on the sidewalk beside her.  He walked around her, keeping his eyes glued onto the prize.  She kept giggling, and stared shyly down at the rose, playing with the petals.  He was at her left shoulder a few moments later, one hand on it, the other one on his hip.  He whispered into her ear, "But, please, baby, be my blue-eyed girl…"  Before she could react, he kissed her gently on the cheek, causing her entire face to catch red.
She barely had time to put her hand to her cheek when he was in front of the back-up, singing what clearly was the chorus.
"I can make the world into whatever you please!" he sang out.
"Whatever you please!" the back-up echoed.
"I'll beg you on my feet and down on my knees!" he continued, dropping to his knees, a pleading smile on his face, eyes shining in desire.
"On my knees!" the back-up echoed, cupping their hands together.
"I'd love you forever…" he continued. "And ever and ever more!"
"And ever more!" the back-up echoed again.
All together, they sang, "I could give you the world!"  All throughout this, she could barely keep her eyes up to watch.  Yet, at the same time, it was hard to look away.
The back-up went back to doing their original harmonizing while he walked up to her, crooning, "But there's just one thing you gotta agree to baby…"
He was up in front of her again, body almost pressing close, his hand under her chin, his lips so close, she could feel his breath on her face.  "It can't be no, or even a maybe…"  She bat her eyes, trying to keep them open, when she felt like she was being lulled to sleep by his beautiful song and the rhythm of her pounding heart.  As he leaned forward, she felt herself lean back, almost desiring their faces were pressing close.
"You gotta agree, please, baby…!"  And too soon, he was gone.  She opened her eyes, in vain trying to hide her disappointment.  He was backing away, his arms stretched out, as if she were to run up to him and give him a hug.  He shot her a smug, striking look, his eyes teasing and challenging.  She smiled vibrantly in return.
"Be my blue-eyed girl!" he exclaimed, the back-up echoing.  She felt her spirit soar.  Without pausing to think, she rushed after him, attempting to throw her arms around him.
And then he was gone.  She almost tripped over herself, finding where he had been not seconds ago was now just empty air.  Rather than angered or sad, she looked around confused, first to the right, then to the left.  No sparks or anything anywhere…But where had he gone?  Even the back-up had disappeared.
"I'll buy you the stars and give you the moon…" she heard someone sing to her left.  She whipped around, but to no avail.  No one was there.
"I'll be your dish if you'd be my spoon!"  Now the voices came from behind her.  She whipped around, looking frantically for this mysteriously quick boy.  But he still was nowhere to be found.  She looked around frantically craning her neck, until she turned front and bumped into a chest covered in yellow spandex.  A hand placed itself on her hip, and one took her opposite hand.  She gazed at the red lightning symbol on the stranger's chest for a moment before looking up.  He was there, swaying her from side to side, guiding her movements in an elegant waltz.  The rose was no longer in her fingers.  It was now in his mouth.
"Round and round the ballroom we'd twirl…" he murmured gently, still keeping up the tune while holding the rose in his mouth.  The music changed from the snappy jazz to an elegant collection of harp chords, and as they twirled she saw the boy with the black hair playing it, looking relatively pleased with himself.  They twirled around the streets, her heart feeling light as a feather.  She almost could see the elegant ballroom around them, crowns perched on their heads, and the prince and the princess took their first dance.  She couldn't help but stare dreamily at him as he spun her around.  It was only the second time the 'princess in a castle' feeling had passed over her.  She felt she could get used to it.
He twirled her one last time and threw her out, still holding her hand.  Capturing her eyes again and spitting the rose in his hand, he sang, "If you'd be my blue-eyed girl!"  He took her back then twirled her the other way, handing off the rose.  But this time, he let go, and she found herself spinning back in the dim-lit streets, the back-up picking up the snappy jazz tune again.
He just seemed to enjoy appearing at random, for suddenly, she heard a voice from her left sing out, "We could sing until we couldn't find a rhyme!"  She whipped around, to find him leaning against the wall, a fancy gray fedora with a black ribbon lazily on his head, arms crossed in front of him as he sang.  He looked like a true blue's man.  She could feel her heart beat faster.
Jumping off the wall, he began walking to her and signing, "I'll hold you close till the end of time…"  He pulled her into a warm embrace, her chin against his chest, his hands on her back, hers flailing to his, unsure of what to do.  All she could manage was to gasp at the sudden closeness, and the gentleness in his eyes.
"Send you treats and flowers to make your head swirl…" he murmured, tracing a hand along her jaw.  Her face must've had the stupidest love-sick expression on them.  Because that's all she could feel.  Too soon, he pulled away, taking off the hat had and putting it onto hers.
"If you'd be my blue-eyed girl…" he continued with a wink, pointing a finger gun at her as he strode away.  She took it off her head to look at it, only to find that it was filled with her favorite chocolates and flowers!  Her head did indeed start swirling, causing her to place the gift-filled fedora and rose down next to the pearl.  She giggled like an idiot, gripping her head to stop it from spinning.
"I can make the world into whatever you please!" he sang out, belting towards the sky, almost drowning out the echoing back-up.  He was suddenly in front of her, crawling on his knees.
"I'll beg on my feet and down to my knees!" he pleaded, crawling until he was in front of her, almost pressing up to her legs as he gripped his hands together, begging with all his might.  She laughed, her face turning red again.
"I'd love you forever and ever and then even more…" he cried, falling back onto his heels and swiftly on his feet again, backing to the back-up again.  Her eyes followed his every movement.
"I could give you the world!" they all sang.  Her heart pounded at every word.
"But there's just one thing you gotta agree baby…!"  This couldn't really be happening.
"It can't be a no, or even a maybe…!"  She couldn't be already…She had known him for less than five minutes!
"You gotta agree, please, baby, please!" he pleaded, gripping his hands together, his eyes shining.  Could it be possible that…She was really falling for this Wally West?
"Be my blue-eyed girl..." he begged.  Again, and again, he repeated his plea.
"Be my blue-eyed girl..."
"Be my blue-eyed girl..."
"Be my blue-eyed girl..."
"Be my blue-eyed girl!"  The last one he sang out with conviction, as if he wouldn't rather anything else than for her to be his.  And, maybe that was the case.
And who knows?  She almost felt ready to jump over and proclaim herself his blue-eyed girl…
"I promise that I'd never leave you high and dry!" he nearly cried out, so caught up in the song, he seemed to be forgetting that he was talking to a complete stranger.  Kuna found she didn't really mind.
"I'd never let you feel so sad that you'd cry…!" he continued, a look of concern crossing his face when he saw the tears in her eyes.  He couldn't tell from where he was standing, but they were tears of pure joy.  She tried to smile up at him, but every time his eyes caught hers, she'd duck her head, blushing, which didn't really help the crying case.
"I'd be yours, you'd be mine, it'll be perfect as can be…" he sung in a mere murmur, this time, the back-up almost drowning him out.  He slowly strode over to her, the concerned, nearly hurt expression on his face making her duck her head further down.  A hand was suddenly under her chin, lifting it gently to stare into his eyes.  He was smiling gently at her, his eyes warm and compassionate.  Her eyes trained to the ground, tears still swelling up, but the sappy smile glued on her face.
"But you gotta open your pretty blue eyes, darling to see…" he continued, almost whispering.
And so that's what she did.
She lifted her eyes to his, staring into the swirls of green.  And she knew he saw it.  He saw that she wanted to be his blue-eyed girl.
"You gotta be my blue-eyed girl!" he sang out, almost in a relieved tone.  Even if he knew, he at least had to finish the song.  He was gone a second later, much to her regret, as he stood by the back-up again, singing.
"I can make the world into whatever you please!" he belted out, the back-up singers barely loud enough to sound their echo.
"I'll beg on my feet and down on my knees!" he continued, singing the chorus with, if possible at this point, more conviction than he had before.
"I'd love you forever and ever and then even more!"  She was starting to believe every word that came out of his mouth to be the one and only truth.
"I could give you the world!"  Falling for such a flirtatious sweetheart as this…Didn't sound that bad of an idea at the moment, actually.
He threw his head back and sang out, his key a step higher, "I can make the world into whatever you please, oh, whatever you please baby!"
"I'll beg on my feet and way down on my knees, darling!"  He practically slammed his knees to the ground, as if he were begging her to stay when all she wanted was to go.  On the contrary; that's exactly what SHE was doing.
"I'd love you for an eternity as time will whirl!"  He called out, standing himself up and pointing at her, his other hand on his chest.  To show her enthusiasm, she spun in a circle, laughing.  Never had she felt so high.  The clouds seemed to have become objects she could reach out and touch, and stand on.
This energetic act only seemed to encourage him, for he threw out his arms and practically shouted, "I could give you the wooooooooorld…!"  They held that note for so long, she was surprised they weren't all going blue in the face.  It was completely silent for a moment after the note ended, their ragged gasping silent.  Then, without warning, they jumped back in.
"But there's just one thing you gotta agree to baby, It can't be no, or even a maybe!" he began to sing at a faster pace, nearly bouncing up and down where he stood.
"I need an answer before you leave me, You gotta agree, please, oh baby, please!" he whined, sounding just a pitch above needy, making her feeling like having him curl up in her arms and comfort him.
"Don't leave me hanging, doll, tell me whatcha say, we going tomorrow or you leaving today?!" he asked.  She was seconds away from crying out, 'I'll stay, I'll stay…!"
"All you gotta do is give it a whiiiiiiiiirl!"  As they held out this note again, she found herself letting out a small squeak of surprise, the ground no longer under her feet.  She found she was tipped by the mysterious Wally, who stared down at her with withering, captivating eyes, that cocky grin on his face, the rose in between his teeth again.  Both of his arms were on her back, making her feel like she could never fall.
Another short silence, then, without the back-up, he sang, "All you gotta do is be my blue-eyed girl."
The back-up stood in silence, slouching down, trying to catch their breath.  Even her mysterious admirer was panting, lifting her up and spitting out the rose to breathe fully through his mouth.
"S-So…" he asked between pants.  "What do…You say…Kuna?"
She was speechless for a moment, the tears coming to her eyes again.  She shook her head back and forth, opening her mouth and closing it, trying to get the words to form.  Finally, she managed to fling her arms around him, burying her head in his shoulders, and cry out, "YES.  YES, I WILL…!"
He took a step back, clearly surprised to get such a quick answer.  But, after the initial shock had died down, he wrapped his arms around her, and though she couldn't see it, she felt the heat from his face, indicating a blush.
Suddenly, one of the boys walked over, still gasping a little, and muttered, "I'm glad you got it on your first try, Wally…I don't think we could do this again…"
Wally's eyes suddenly grew huge, and he lifted a finger to his lips, frantically hissing, "Shush, Dick, shut up…!"
Kuna opened her eyes, a blank expression on her face.
"Wait…What?"

THE END
